Another Lent. Another Opportunity to Draw Closer to God
Come join us for a time of silence as part of your 2007 Lenten journey. On Saturday, March 10, one of our parishioners, Leslie Everheart, has arranged for a small group to go to All Saints Convent in Baltimore to introduce them to this special place and provide the opportunity for a short silent retreat experience. This opportunity is open to both men and women. Leslie has attended retreats at All Saints for many years and highly recommends the experience.
The All Saints Sisters of the Poor, a traditional Anglican community of Sisters, originally came here from England. Their ministries have included providing a residential home for troubled children, offering silent retreats, quiet days, and study days for men and women, providing a guest wing in the convent for women, managing a card shop with cards and other items for sale that are handmade by the Sisters, and founding a hospice—the Joseph Richey House in Baltimore.
In preparation fro this trip Leslie will be showing a 30-minute video of the convent called Quiet Places on Wednesday evening, March 7. This event will take place at 7:30 PM at Christ Church. If interested in seeing the video, going on the retreat, or both events please register by calling or e-mailing Leslie at Lesliee@mail.nih.gov or through the church office.
At this time, the tentative plans for the retreat on March 10 are either 8:00 AM—12 Noon, or 1:00 PM—5:00 PM. We will post the definite arrangements in a subsequent bulletin. Depending on the size of the group, we may need more than one car.
