What do CCPK volunteers do for Meals on Wheels?
Twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays of every month, Christ Church volunteers take over the lunch time meal service delivery. Packers work from 9 – 11:30 and deliverers work from 11:00 to about 1:00 pm. Meals on Wheels needs help on other days, but the first and third Thursdays of the month are the primary focus of Christ Church Kensington.
Who is currently involved?
There are about 20 Christ Church volunteers, packers and
deliverers, who are actively involved.
Christ Church was one of the organizing churches for the Meals on Wheels program in Wheaton, and it continues to be a source of great pride for the parish.

Meals on Wheels of Wheaton has been delivering meals and companionship for more than 36 years. The organization provides a humanitarian food service for the homebound, elderly, handicapped or convalescing (i.e., anyone who is unable to shop, prepare and cook for themselves).
Two nutritious meals are delivered by volunteers daily Monday through Friday between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. A hot cooked meal is prepared for midday and a cold meal is delivered for dinner. While delivering meals, the volunteers also have a chance for a brief friendly visit with the homebound individual.
The success of the program depends on the support of organizations like Christ Church Kensington. Volunteers, as well as financial contributions, are always needed.
